Rhode Island State House

The State House is open to the public Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm except holidays. Free guided tours are offered at 9 am, 10 am, 11 am, 1 pm, and 2 pm. Small group tours begin in the State House Library on the second floor; reservations are recommended. Large groups (10 or more people) are required to make a reservation. Tours last about 50 minutes.

Benefit Street's Mile of History

John Brown House

Governor Henry Lippitt House Museum

Heir to one of Rhode Island?s leading textile manufacturing families, Henry Lippitt (1818-1891) designed and supervised the construction in 1865 of a house at 199 Hope Street in Providence for his wife Mary Ann Balch (1823-1889) and their six children. Occupied by four generations of the Lippitt family for 114 years, the house is a three story, thirty room Renaissance Revival villa with Italian palazzo elements.
